Boy Meets Wine

This week we tried 19 Crimes: an Australian company that gives each wine a label featuring a convict who was sent to Australia for committing one of the “19 crimes” that got you kicked out of Britain. We chose John Boye O’Reilly’s red blend (writer, poet, journalist, activist). Ironically, we sipped on sin as we discussed an episode about friendship, generosity, and the true meaning of Christmas: Season 1 Episode 10 entitled, “Santa’s Little Helper”!

This week we drink a California Cab Sauv from Bonanza! (Felt like it needed an exclamation mark…) Oh and we’re on Season 1 Episode 9: “Class Pre-Union”. When Mr. Feeny crushes Cory's dream of becoming a professional Major League Baseball player, guest star and legendary pitcher Jim Abbott boosts his spirits with an inspirational talk.

This week we sip a Chilean Merlot from Casillero del Diablo as we discuss prejudice, racism, and educational theory in April Kelly’s masterfully-written episode: “Teacher’s Bet” (Season 1 Episode 8).

This week’s wine is aNutha Chardonnay, but this one’s from “Bread and Butter”. And today we unpack Season 1 Episode 7, “Grandma Was a Rolling Stone”: Cory’s Grandma is a love-bomber. Brie compares the wine to elephant pee, and Jules appreciates that Eric is finding his character!

This week’s wine is a Chardonnay called Simi (as in “Simi on My Way” by Rusted Root). And this week’s episode is Season 1 Episode 6, “Boys II Mensa”: Cory cheats on an intelligence test. Brie hogs the mic, and Jules reminisces about making the move from reading-for-decoding to reading for enjoyment. Speaking of enjoyment: Enjoy!

This week’s wine is a Cab Sauv from THE Francis Ford Coppola (yea, the film director). And this week’s episode is Season 1 Episode 5, “Killer Bee”: Cory enters a geography quiz show competition because the winner gets to be a bat boy at the World Series. Get France out of the Tuamotus!

This week’s wine is a ~Pinoooooot Nowahhh~ from “Josh Cellars” (the red version of last week’s easy, gluggable cartoon white). The episode? Season 1 Episode 4, “Cory’s Alternative Friends”: Cory is teamed with an unpopular girl for a school project. To-PANGA!

This week’s wine is a Sauvignon Blanc called “Decoy” (‘cartoon-white-wine’ that glugs down easy), and this week’s episode is “Father Knows Less”: Cory fails a test because Alan keeps him up too late the night before. Brie yaps about education, Jules revisits childhood scars left by exam anxiety. Enjoy?

This week’s wine is a sparkling rosé called “Christina” (Austrian, organic, & ~funky~), and this week’s episode is “On the Fence”: Cory learns that his dad is a superhero (*cue tears*).

This week’s wine is a Gavi called “La Scolca” (a white wine from the Gavi region of Italy), and this week’s Boy Meets World episode is “The Pilot (Boy Meets World)”! Pop open a bottle of Gavi, watch the pilot, then pour a second glass and listen to the sultry sounds of Brie’s cold as she tries to taste wine with a stuffy nose while chatting love, literature, and…the meaning of everything?
